NoTrace IPTV is a TV player. It ships no channels, no subscriptions and no accounts. There are no ads, no analytics, and no server of ours for it to talk to.

What the app stores

All of this stays on your device.

• The provider details you type: a name, the server or playlist address, your username and password, a guide (EPG) address, and — for Stalker and MAG portals — the MAC address your provider issued you. Usernames, passwords and MAC addresses are encrypted on the device.
• What the app downloads from your provider: the channel list, the programme guide, and film and series details.
• What you do in the app: favourites, recently watched channels, resume positions, watch history and viewing stats, your watchlist, profiles, and your channel and category customisations.
• Recordings you make, saved as video files in the app's own storage folder.
• How well each stream has worked for you, so the app can try the one that works first. Counts and timings only, kept per provider on the device.
• A hash of your parental PIN, if you set one. Not the PIN itself.
• Reminders and recording rules you set, and a copy of any playlist file you import.

What leaves your device

Requests go to your provider:

• your provider's server, playlist and guide addresses;
• the stream and logo addresses your provider hands back.

The app also refreshes the channel list and guide from your provider on a schedule in the background, not only while you are using it.

Nothing goes to us. There is no server on our side to receive it. We never see your provider details, your channel list, or what you watch.

Nothing goes to anyone else either. The app carries no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting code, and no third-party component in it reports anywhere. It previously included Google's Chromecast library, which started up with the player whether or not you ever cast; that has been removed.

One feature reaches beyond your device, and only when you use it:

• Cast to device looks for media players on your Wi-Fi network and sends the stream address to the one you pick. That exchange stays on your network, it runs only while the cast picker is open, and it is our own code rather than a third-party library.

Camera

The camera does one thing: read a QR code when you copy your setup across from another device. The image is decoded on the spot, never stored and never sent anywhere. The app asks for the camera only when you tap Scan.

Opening a stream in another app

If you send a channel to an external player, the app hands that player the stream address. For some providers the address contains your username and password, and if you pick the app from the system chooser, every app on the device that can play video sees it. Use this only with a player you trust.

Moving your setup to another device

Export writes an encrypted file, or shows it as a QR code, holding your providers, profiles and preferences — including your credentials. It is locked with a passphrase you choose, so pick a strong one: anyone with both the file and the passphrase has your provider account. The file goes wherever you save it and never passes through us.

App lock

If you turn on the app lock, unlocking uses your device's own fingerprint, face or PIN check. The app is told only whether it succeeded.

Unencrypted (http) sources

If you enter an http:// address for a provider, playlist, guide or stream, then credentials, tokens and video can travel unencrypted between your device and that service. Anyone on the same network can read them. Use https:// where your provider offers it.

Logs

The app writes almost nothing to the device's system log. It never writes your username, password, MAC address, provider address or a stream address. What is left in the version you install is a handful of playback-failure lines naming only a generic source type, like "HLS 1/2", so a fault can still be diagnosed on a real device. The detailed playback log, which does name your provider's host, exists only in development builds.

Deleting your data

Deleting a provider removes everything tied to it: its credentials, the channel list, the cached guide, favourites, recents, resume positions, watch history, reminders, scheduled recordings and your customisations.

Recordings you already made are kept, because they are yours and the video is on your device. Delete them individually on the Recordings screen. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app removes everything, recordings included.

Children

This is a general-audience player and is not aimed at children. We knowingly collect nothing from anyone.

Changes

This policy changes as the app does. The date at the top says when it last did.
